Planning Your Honeymoon
Planning the honeymoon should be as much fun as planning the wedding, and it can be so long as the couple plan well in advance and are realistic in what they can and want to do.
Determine Budget
Of course, the first thing you need to do is allocate money from the budget to cover the cost of the honeymoon. It is no good of dreaming of a trip abroad if the budget cannot cover it. This is where you and your partner need some good old fashioned honest and open communication. A starting point is talking about what you both would like to do in the time away. If it is a specific activity, then you need to accommodate that if at all possible. However, the point of a honeymoon is that you spend time together, not that one goes off while the other spends their time alone!
Where to Go?
You also need to decide where you would like to go. Once you have done this, you need to look again at your budget. It may be possible to go further a field if you are willing to comprise on certain aspects. Whatever you destination you need to be able to find a way of getting there that wont break the budget.
Shop For Deals
One way is to look for special deals. Online is likely to be the best place for these, although you are not really in the place of being able to book last minute, so these deals will not apply to you. But there are other deals that can make a honeymoon extra special. There are often honeymoon packages, and these can include an upgraded room and even flights. It may include little extras in your room such as champagne and chocolates or a bowl of fruit. All these small touches can make your honeymoon extra special.
Preparation
Once you have booked your honeymoon you need to make sure that all the travel arrangements are in place. Around 3 months before your wedding day, you should check that your passports are up to date, and that any special considerations are organized. A week or so before the big day is a good time to pack you honeymoon case, making sure that you include the essentials such as sun cream, reading matter, and currency. Make sure that you have any vaccinations that you need, and all your documents to hand.
The next few days will become unbelievably hectic, and it is unlikely that you will have the time or inclination to do this in that time!
