Wedding Photography
The wedding photographs and video, should you decide to have both, will ensure that you have perfect memories of your big day. Often, with all the hustle and bustle involved in being the center stage of a wedding, you can forget little things that happened as you are so busy concentrating on the bigger picture.
The wedding photographer can ensure that nothing is forgotten in the long run.
Proven Professional
You need to find someone who has a proven track record in this field. This is too precious a day to entrust it to friends or family members who may practice photography or video making as a part time hobby. You need a professional, and as such, you need to be willing to allocate a sizeable amount of your budget in this area.
Book In Advance
You need to book your photographer at least six months in advance of the big day. Twelve months will better ensure that you get the person you want, rather than the person who is available.
Check References
Check the photographers references and insist on seeing a portfolio of his work. Make sure that he or she knows exactly what you want to achieve with your photographs and video. Be open to any suggestions that they may make, after all, they are the professional, but do not feel that you have to go along with them. It is your day after all. When interviewing the professional, ask whether they will have an assistant, and if they bring back up equipment incase of failure.
When looking at their portfolio, look at how many wedding they have done, rather than their general scope of photography. Also ask around your friends to see who they would recommend. Word of mouth is sometimes a good indication of standard. But in the end, rely on your own judgment.
Policies and Pricing
When you select your venue for the ceremony and reception ask about their policy on photography and video making. Check with the wedding official as well. Make sure that you can get the atmosphere and photographs you want at your selected venue, and that the photographer has access to the areas that he or she will need.
Finally, always get everything you discuss confirmed in writing, and make sure you are familiar with their cancellation policy.
