Wedding GiftsWedding gifts that will be treasured The run up to the wedding day, and the day itself brings a wealth of gifts for the bride and groom. Some are dearly wanted items, and some are, well, to be frank, it's often hard to see exactly what they are! But all are gratefully received in the spirit that they are given, even if some end up at the back of some cupboard within a month or two. But it is not only the bride and groom who will receive a gift. They also have to purchase gifts for members of their wedding party. The people who should, traditionally receive a gift are the matron or maid or honor, all the bridal party, from the oldest bridesmaid to the youngest flower girl, as well as the grooms attendants and the ushers. You should also add to this list, anyone who has a special part to play in the ceremony, or has helped you out in a particular way that you feel deserves a sign of recognition. Some couples also like to include the parents in the gift buying, and it is traditional for the bride and groom to exchange small gifts. The purpose of these gifts is for the bride and groom to show how much they appreciate the way that these people have been part of their wedding, and how much they have helped it to become a very special day. The couple should bear this in mind when they choose the gifts, and try to make them as individual as possible. Remember though, that these also come out of your overall budget and choose accordingly. People will often appreciate something that has been well thought out, than something that is expensive, so don't be tempted to overspend in this area. So, what gifts should you buy, and when should you give your gift? The rehearsal dinner gives you an opportunity to give out your gifts as everyone who is involved should be present at the dinner. It is also a smaller and more intimate affair than the big day itself, and so you can give each gift and spend time with the person. When buying gifts for the female members of the wedding party, then a small piece of jewelry or similar is very acceptable, as is some bath oil, a gift basket or a small collectable. When buying gifts for the male members of the wedding party, cigars, pens, key chains and pocket watches are good ideas. Make an effort with the wrapping of the gifts and put a personal note into each one telling them how much you appreciate them, and the giving will feel just as good as the receiving.
